Jazz by Candlelight with Louise Denson Trio (CANCELED)

Louise Denson is an accomplished pianist and composer, recently arrived in Hobart after 20 years teaching, writing and performing in Brisbane. She has played in Canada, USA, Europe, UK and across Australia in her own and other’s ensembles and her compositions feature beautiful melodies, rich harmony and happening grooves. Louise has released seven CDs, with her 2021 release, Nova Nova, receiving a 4-star review in The Weekend Australian. Her work in the Jazz and Classical genres has been recorded by both Australian and American artists including multi-Downbeat poll-winning trombonist Bill Watrous, and celebrated Tasmanian vocalist, Elly Hoyt.

As a performer, Louise has appeared at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival, Valley Jazz Festival, Manly Jazz Festival, Noosa Jazz Festival, Brisbane Festival, Broadbeach Jazz Festival and many others. She has collaborated with musicians of national and international renown such as Downbeat poll-winning trombonist Bill Watrous, vocalist Ingrid James, saxophonists Sandy Evans, Julien Wilson, John Mackey, Martin Kay, James Sandon, Frank Lozano and Adrian Cunningham, trumpeters Miro Bukowsky, Aron Doyle, Bob Schultz and Paul Armstrong, pianist Steve Newcomb, bassists Michel Donato, Mike Milligan, Ben Robertson, Helen Russell, Andrew Shaw, drummers Todd Harrison, Paul Hudson, Gary Fieldman, Ronny Ferella, Tony Floyd, Cameron Reid and Paul Leger.

 The Trio features Tom Robb (drums) and Hamish Houston (bass)! 

Tickets are $10 per person, with 100% of ticket sales going directly to the artists.
